Part of A Worldwide Navigators Ministry
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit….” (Mt 28:19)
We are thrilled to be part of a worldwide Navigators ministry! The Navigators across Africa are integrating Discipling for Development (D for D) as a key focus of their ministry. Our desire is to see the Gospel of the Kingdom penetrate into all areas of the continent. Already, through partnership with Africa Navigators, D for D has expanded into 11 countries, with 50 teams in Africa. Discipling for Development is a strategy The Navigators can utilize to impact poor, rural communities with a holistic Gospel.
Great Things Are Happening in Uganda With The Navigators
Our ministry has been active in Uganda since 1982. There is now a fully developed Discipling for Developement ministry there. However, among the Christian organizations with which we have collaborated in Discipling for Development, The Uganda Navigators, under the leadership of Country Director Edward Mupada, has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to bring about community transformation through whole-life discipleship among the poor, the rural and the marginalized. In a 2008 Africa Navigators newsletter Edward wrote:
“When I first read the CORE (Navigator Calling, Values and Vision), I realized that we were on a new and exciting dispensation in the advancement of the Gospel. But how could we be relevant in a situation where unemployment levels are over 40% and many live in abject poverty?
“In November 2007 I attended the Discipling for Development training in Mbale, Uganda. I saw rural communities being transformed by the Gospel and livelihoods of people improving as they used local resources. The poor are given life skills and the Gospel is flowing freely through relational networks, impacting families and neighboring communities. I praise God for a new approach in discipleship that helps us reach the whole person and whole communities!”
